Derek Wimpeé – Elite Soccer Coach & Mentor

Born and raised in Arizona, Derek Wimpeé’s passion for soccer was evident from an early age. He played competitively from ages 3 to 17, but after injuries altered his path, he seamlessly transitioned into coaching. His journey began at his alma mater, where he served as Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach for the Payson Longhorns (2009–2011), laying the foundation for a distinguished coaching career.

Following a relocation to Boise, Idaho, Derek returned to the pitch with renewed purpose. Over the past 11 years, he has become a pivotal figure in the Treasure Valley soccer community, coaching at the highest competitive levels and fostering elite player development. His dedication to continuous learning took him abroad to Verona, Italy, where he immersed himself in the rich soccer culture of Europe. Working with Serie B club Chievo Verona, he earned an international coaching diploma, refining his tactical approach and bringing world-class methodology back to the U.S.

Derek’s expertise extends beyond club soccer. He also led the women’s program at Treasure Valley Community College, further demonstrating his ability to develop talent across different levels of the game. His coaching philosophy is rooted in unity, trust, and resilience—building not just skilled athletes, but strong, cohesive teams.

Off the field, Derek is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Amanda, share a deep passion for sports and for raising their two daughters, Taylor (17) and Riley (11), who remain his biggest supporters. He takes immense pride in fostering a family-oriented culture within his programs, believing that the strongest teams are those built on trust and camaraderie.
